Evening showers drenched different parts of Delhi on Wednesday, causing significant waterlogging that severely impacted traffic in several areas of the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in the coming hours.

Reports of waterlogged streets were particularly common in central, northern, and eastern parts of the city, leading to traffic congestion and making daily commutes difficult. In response to the adverse weather, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, urging residents to stay cautious.

In its most recent nowcast, the IMD mentioned, “Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur in most areas of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) over the next one to two hours.”
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius, slightly below the usual seasonal average. Morning humidity levels soared to 92 percent at 8:30 AM, adding to the discomfort.
Weather experts anticipate the maximum temperature in the city could reach around 32 degrees Celsius later in the day. Residents are advised to brace for ongoing rain and potential traffic issues.
According to the IMD’s forecast, showers are expected to continue in the capital over the next few days. The city is likely to experience a mix of light to heavy rain and thunderstorms until August 13.
